This is a 1960 40hp Johnson outboard short shaft in great running condition fully restored with a dupont paint job. This motor has a 1963 powerhead. This means it has the bigger crankshaft and updated block. The original 1963 Johnson 40 hp powerhead was a significant upgrade from the 1960/61 models. The necessary upgrades were done to the powerhead in 1963 in order to make the engines more reliable, stronger, and perform better. This 40 hp Johnson was used in freshwater and runs great. Before we restored the engine the motor was very clean. This 40 hp Johnson is set up for remote steering. This is a 15" shaft, electric and pull start, fuel pump, remote model but has the capabilities to convert to a tiller. This motor only weighs 135lbs, the weight of the average 25 hp today. If you are in the market for a 25-40hp outboard this is the motor! This is a 2 stroke, 2 cylinder outboard with forward-Neutral-Reverse.
